Devon Rhodes is my guest today and I'm very pleased to have her with us today. First off Devon answers the quickie interview:
Devon Reveals All -- okay, almost all
1. What are your nicknames?
Currently just Mom! Rhody for obvious reasons, Swoop when Dad was still around, Hammer in college...
2. How does your hair look currently?
Extra messy 'Messy Bun', same color I was born with, strawberry blonde. I predict I'm about 6 months from getting impatient with it and donating it for the fifth time.
3. What’s new in your life right now?
Youngest in preschool means I actually get a few chunks of completely kid-free time each week! Gives me more time to devote to my other new thing...writing, which I only started in earnest about 8 months ago.
4. How many colors are you wearing now?
Just two, lavender top and black fleece pants. Okay and brown wool socks, so three. Yeah, I can count. Really.
5. Are you an introvert or extrovert?
An introvert unless I have to be "on." I'd rather observe than be observed.
6. What was the last book you read?
Besides my own for edits, Simply Wicked by Kate Pearce. Currently reading Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning.
7 Who is your favorite super hero?
I was a girl in the 70's. Didn't we all pretend to be Wonder Woman?
8. What has made you happy these days?
I'm four for four on contracting stories I've written in less than two months. What a ride! Have plenty of projects lined up and a cooperative muse...life is good!
9. What’s your current obsession?
Autumn! My favorite season. Pumpkins, apples, baking, canning, leaves turning beautiful colors and falling, chill in the air, back to school. ;)
10. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Ready for what? Lol, I'm extremely low maintenance..brush my teeth and fix my coffee and I'm good to go. Five minutes tops.
11. What’s the last thing you laughed about?
I'm a comedian's dream...I would be he one that the camera would stay on in a televised show. I laugh all the time. Probably something that one of my friends said or sent!
12. What’s the last song that got stuck in your head?
"In and Out" by Katy Perry, my three yr old was singing it all day, so now I am too. The line about PMS'ing is freaking funny coming out of a three yr old's mouth by the way.
13. What’s the last movie you saw?
Watched "Knocked Up" last night, hilarious and light enough to keep me sane. I get enough angst from my writing!
14. What was the last story you wrote?
Rough Riders, which will be published in Total-E-Bound's Gaymes antho in January. Sweaty, athletic guys, locker rooms, and illegal tackles, fun to write. :) I also just today wrapped up revising an old (relatively speaking!) M/M/F futuristic menage novella called Wet Your Whistle.
15. Is there anything else you'd like readers to know about Devon Rhodes?
It was a huge thrill to have my first story come out last month and hold that paperback in my hands. I'm finally doing what I'm suited for...I can't imagine every wanting to "retire" from this.

Upcoming release is A Pint Light from Total-E-Bound, which comes out on October 26th. Part of their seasonal Voracious Vamps releases.
M/M, Vampire, Contemporary.
Blurb for A Pint Light:
Valerian stole Raine's blood, his magic...and his heart.
What's a vampire to do when every day is the same old dull quest for blood? Head to Maui, of course. But before Valerian can hit the beach, he needs to get rid of the sultry mage seducing him in his sleep. She may have fooled his subconscious, but he doesn't need a mate complicating his life. Imagine Val's shock when he finds out she's a he, yet still has the power to arouse him beyond anything he'd ever imagined.
Raine faints at the sight of blood and isn't looking forward to being a vamp's chew toy. Still, family duty calls, and Valerian turns out to be the hottest, and most powerful, male on two legs. Raine is crushed when the sexy vamp of his dreams runs from their rough play in horror. But his pride can't stand in the way when Valerian accidently steals his magic along with his blood.
Now, with time running out, Raine needs to seduce him one last time to even up the score, and maybe this time, they'll exchange more than blood and power. Magic is in the air, and sometimes love only needs a little nudge.
Excerpt:
“This is where things got out of control last time, wouldn’t you agree?”
Val’s eyes flew open at the unexpected and incredibly coherent question. He tried to get his brain to formulate an answer, but couldn’t manage more than, “Uh...”
Raine sighed heavily, “I can see that I’m going to have to have conversations with you before you’re turned on. Obviously, all the blood must leave your big head when you’re aroused or something.”
Val couldn’t agree more. He could barely process what Raine was saying, only revelling in the fact that he was still sitting on top of his pulsing cock. He continued to push up against Raine, now trying in earnest to remove his tight briefs without letting Raine move off his cock, an impossible task, unless he were to rip them...
He turned thought into deed, and three yanks later, the briefs were in tatters and Raine’s erection popped up, slapping against his own belly, leaving a dab of pre-come behind. Before he even consciously decided to, he reached out and rubbed the spot off with the pad of his thumb, bringing it to his mouth for a lick. He watched those celadon eyes darken with desire as Raine focused on Val’s tongue sliding over his thumb, cleaning it of Raine’s come.
The musky, briny taste, with the same notes as Raine’s amazing blood, hit his senses like a shot of adrenaline. Val reacted without thought, flipping Raine over, grinding down against him as he reversed their positions.
“If you’re going to nail me with those teeth again, you’re going to have to let me suck you off first. Take it or leave it.”

Devon's December release is Silver & Gold, part of Dreamspinner Press' Mistletoe Madness 2009 Advent Calendar, a collection of 32 stories centered around the holidays.
Blurb for Silver & Gold:
Geoff Radcliffe is having a mid-life crisis just in time for the holidays. He goes into a tailspin after hearing from his first love, picks up a stranger who locks him out of the house in nothing but his pants, and then he gets up the courage to go get rid of his grey, and the colorist refuses to do Geoff's hair!
But Abe Golden, thrilled that the hunky silver-tipped guy has admitted he's gay, does 'do' him, taking him home for the hottest night of Geoff's life. After three heavenly days of smoking hot sex, Abe has done the unimaginable: he's fallen in love. And when he finds out that Geoff has been using him to practice for another man, Abe is at first heartbroken... and then he plots how to show Geoff the value of combining silver and gold.

But wait -- there's more!
Devon has a contest for our readers.
CONTEST:
Devon is working on a new book starting this week:
To win a free e-book of A Pint Light, give her a name suggestion for each of two characters in her contemporary story - demon and an angel.
At this point, she's about 50/50 on deciding whether to make the demon female or male! (eye roll)
So the demon's name can be male, female, or either...and some good suggestions might help her decide which way to go! The angel is ALL male. ;)
Best suggestion will be considered for her characters and will win the e-book
You can also cast your vote to make the demon male or female at her: http://devonrhodes.blogspot.com/

I want to thank Devon for joining us today and wish her continued success!

I'll be out at the day job today, so treat Devon right!
Great interview Devon... and I'm just busting a gut over your 3 year old and PMSing... hopefully not an indication of any future clashes? (having been through it with 3 daughters... ugh!)
As for names... gah! I'm terrible ~ well I did okay with my kids, but they're neither angel nor demon (btw, I'm rooting for m/m but I know whichever way you ~ they? ~ go it'll be great.
Aaanyway... Angel name: Gideon, Grace or Endymion (anime influence there) and Demon... hmmm ~ Calcifer (anime), Charon, Lucien.
Yeah.... good luck! *grin*
Okay I can't believe that I got it all turned around. *sigh*
Angel = definite Male
Demon = either / or
got it!
Angel: Gideon or Endymion
Demon: Lucifer (of Luc) just 'cause the name seems dark... sexy dark not icky dark or Lillian (kinda close to Lilith)... see I'm very "in the box" where names are concerned.
And, if you can, ignore previous post... I know I'm going to!
Angel: Gabriel
Demon: Antonio
Lovely interview, D
Well, sore throat kept me at home so mama is watching! ;~D
have fun gang!
Wonderful interview, Devon!
Loved the excerpt from A Pint Light. Looking forward to its release!
Congrats on all your writing successes, and here's to many more :-)
Uh oh, Jeanne, sorry to hear that you're sick! Hope you feel better, love. (snort) And here I did all the promo posting for you at the LI sites.
LOL Kathy, I was actually thinking that Grace as a name for a male angel would be kind of cool.
Thanks Shawn, altho it's hard to top your intereview from yesterday! :)
Hi Shannon, I know, I can't wait..I just love APL's guys and can't wait to share!
Hey Devon!
Fab interview! Oh and I'm with you on Wonder Woman - I so wanted to be her when I was a kid! LOL
Um...names. I'm horrid at them, but I'll give it a shot -
Angel - Sasha, as in the guy name
Demon - Cynric
Used to twirl and twirl, and then remember when she'd stop, she'd always reach down and adjust her belt?? LOL
Okay, I get the hint! A whopping 83% for a male demon...the rest say either one is fine. So far, it looks like a bouncing (ahem) baby boy demon!
Rough Riders & Wet your Whistle... I am so loving those titles....
Loving the interview Devon...
And I am a Wonder Woman fan as well, as well as Green Lantern, Superman, etc... LOL
E.H>
Hi EH! Thanks, though it always feels like I have the hardest time coming up with titles...and find it very hard to write without one I'm happy about!
And don't even get me started on character names...LOL!
BTW, thanks everyone for your suggestions, I love some of these ideas! I'm going to let it perk overnight and see what hits me. In the meantime, if you are just finding your way here, please go ahead and post..you're in until I announce my winner!
Okay I took another look at the pic... actually it was a first look *blush* and the name that instantaneously popped into my head was Bryce. Weird, but true.
Thanks everyone for your wonderful ideas..I didn't end up going with any of the suggestions, but it really got my creative juices flowing and helped the process along! I've added these names to my "name list," so maybe you'll see your choice in another book of mine sometime in the future!
My A Pint Light winner is Kathy for her unbridled enthusiasm! I'll send it over as soon as I get my copies! Congratulations!
My poll closed with the vote practically unanimous in favor of a male demon. And the names of my heroes are....drum roll please....Kyriel (angel) and Seth (demon). Hope you like them as much as I do!
Thanks for Jeanne for having me over and to everyone who stopped by to make my first author interview so memorable!
Kathy, LOL! We were posting at the same time!
Ironically, Bryce is a main character in my menage I just finished! ;)
Visit my blog for a visual of Kyrian and Seth! ;)

Hi, Devon,
Showing up a bit late, but I've got to compliment you on the interview. Not the normal questions!
Congratulations on your four for four run of contracts!
Warmly,
Lisabet
Glad you enjoyed the questions I compelled Devon to answer. They came from a set of questions from another list.
They're great fun, aren't they?
And thanks again, Devon for a great post!
Great interview!
Please don't ask me about names. I'm horrible!
Hi Lisabet! You're so great about posting for other authors, thanks for coming over and for the congrats! Lisabet and I will be sharing space in the Gaymes antho in January. However her boys' game of choice is a bit different than mine! :)
Thanks for stopping Monica, names are very tough. I finally started a list of names I like, it's really long, but at least it's a starting point when I need to brainstorm.
